Good Times in July

We celebrated our wedding anniversary on July 12th. We are grateful to the Lord for giving us 41 years together! It’s wonderful to spend this many years with your best friend who is full of love and devotion.

Later in July we attended an event for the first time — Cheyenne Frontier Days — World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo and Western Celebration! We have lived in LaGrange for 16 years and never been. We went with two other couples that we work with at Frontier and it was lots of fun.

Grace Conference

In July we were blessed by the generous gifts of friends to be able to attend the annual Grace Conference at Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Dr. James Scudder formed the church in a store front 45 years ago and we held meetings for him back then in those struggling days. The messages and workshops were encouraging and the music was outstanding. It was also great to reunite with some of our former students and friends from Florida Bible College and Frontier School of the Bible. It was a very special time for us. Next year's theme is Servants of Purpose through Grace— maybe you'd like to consider attending!

Back into the Routine

With the unsettling happenings of the last four months our routine has not been quite normal. We are sorry we’ve been slow in posting news — it’s been difficult to keep up with everything. We will try to get back on track with regular news, but if it sporadic, we hope you will understand. Our board has suggested we do what we can and not feel pressured to keep the usual schedule.

Losing a child is not something any parent anticipates happening. We miss Jeff so much, but we are beginning to think about the good memories without so much tearful emotion. We are more grateful than we can express for the prayers of so many. We know that God is hearing and He is giving us much grace and strength — often times through the love and care of friends. Being with good friends, like in the above photo, has made a difference. Please continue praying for us.

Friends from the Past

Since we live in Wyoming we don't get to see our family or friends from the south and east very often. We are just so far away!

But when in Dallas we were so blessed by those who were able to come to the wake for Jeff. It was held at Jeff and Rachel's home and it was so good being able to visit with everyone and be together. The picture below is of former Florida Bible college students — it was an encouragement beyond words to see these dear friends that mean so much to us.

Encouraging Words

Tom and Grace, who order copies of The Gift over and over, recently sent the following note.

Thank you for the privilege of sharing The Gift with others!

We’ve been wanting you to know that it was The Gift that the Lord used to lead a Mormon family to Christ in St. George, Utah. How very memorable when the wife and mom said, “Now I understand the atonement.” And she did!

In the process of sending a copy of The Gift to a dear friend, Sara, for her brother and sister-in-law (terminally ill) who need the Lord…

We discovered your booklet in New Hampshire years ago!

Missions: Where Do We Fit In?

February 14–19 was our spring Missions Conference — Missions: Where Do We Fit In? Students get a real taste of what foreign missions is like from these conferences. As a result many of our graduates are now spreading the gospel throughout the world — Poland, Slovenia, Mexico, Canada, Peru, Brazil, France, Vanuatu, and Kazakhstan, to name a few. It is so encouraging to realize we’ve played a small part in their biblical training. We can think of no better way to invest our lives. Thank you for the part you have in this through your prayers and support.

Satisfaction

Earlier in February Kathy and two other FSB staff women spoke for the ladies retreat at Imperial Bible Church in Imperial, Nebraska. Also two more women that minister at Frontier led the music. It was a privilege ministering with this team of ladies. The theme was Satisfaction in Christ and the church ladies did an amazing job decorating with a coffee theme. Loved the yummy food and coffee treats, but most of all appreciated their eagerness for the Word and their warm fellowship.

Encouraging Words from Brazil

Our spring semester has gotten off to a great start here at Frontier School of the Bible. Ten additional students have enrolled this second semester. Dick is teaching Victorious Christian Living and Theology 2 which includes the study of angels, demons, satan, man, sin, and salvation. Kathy is involved with two women’s classes — Women Teaching Women 1 and Women Teaching Woman 3. We love our classes!

A graduate doing an internship in Brazil recently emailed these encouraging words:

I want to thank you personally for the work and effort you put into the WTW classes. What I’ve learned from those classes has helped me immensely during my time here. I have a constant one-on-one Bible study where I apply what I’ve learned from those classes. I have a 45 minute message that I’ve begun studying for and without those classes I would feel so lost in my preparation. But I can do it in an organized way that keeps my thoughts in order and I get the most out of God’s Word. So thank you!

Student Wives Retreat

We had our student wives retreat at a small country church at the top of a nearby bluff. It was beautiful and a very encouraging time. FSB staff member, Joyce Koester, shared how we can be better prepared for the abrupt times in life. Joyce's husband, Carl, went home to heaven in May 2014 and what she shared had an impact on all of us. She made Acts 17:28 come alive, "In Him [Christ] we live and move and have our being."

Frontier Focus

High school juniors and seniors from all over came to check out Frontier! We had almost an extra 100 people on campus and it was a great time. On Thursday night the Suma suits were a big hit and got everyone involved! On Friday they visited classes and that night was a cookout with a bonfire and more crazy games.

We were especially glad that Bob Logan made the trip all the way from Pharr, TX and brought 7 kids with him. Kimberly (Logan) Pannill also came and brought 9 kids from South Dakota. It was great having Bob and Kim stay with us.
